I love the burgers and fries at this place. I just wish they had chocolate ice cream. The service leaves a lot to be desired but the food usually makes up for it. Their happy hour specials which are in the afternoon and the middle of the night draw a crowd so be prepared to wait especially if you are in the drive thru. You can order ahead by calling or faxing in your order and you'll get things fast at the take away window or the counter.

Well my review will echo some of the other statements others have expressed. The service was slow. With that being said they were very busy. Our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and from the conversations we overheard by staff the kitchen was making mistakes causing every order to be backed up. We did get our food, 30 minutes after ordering. It was standard Steak and Shake. Burger was average, fries thin and crisp. My wife's chicken strips were good. The cup of chili was soupy and more beans than anything else and flavor a bit lacking. What kept me from making my rating a 3 instead of a 2 was the fact that they offered us free shakes for the delay. Hope they get all the kinks worked out because it does appear they are trying but have some kitchen issues to deal with.

Our family came in and were seated. 20 minutes later our waiter came over, 20 more minutes to get drinks. I believe they were "waiting us out". The manager and waiter just standing, looking at us, hoping we would get up and leave. Over an hour total- what as waste of time. We previously decided S&S would be a good place to stop while traveling... This is certainly our last visit to this chain.

Worst Steak and Shake I've been to in awhile. Was told to pull up and wait for food after paying at window even though there was no one behind me. Waitress brought orders out and was missing 2 items. Food was hot but poorly made. Won't be back anytime soon.

Driving back to Tallahassee from south Florida and I just had to stop for food. Saw the lights of the building once wwe got off the highway exit. The staff was a little side tracked. But once they noticed us, there was great service. Nothing special about the food, found everywhere. But it tasted great and came out fairly quickly. Not sure what people do in this city so I probably won't be back unless it's another late night spot while driving through.

When you're on a road trip and you see a Steak n' Shake, it would be worth your while to take a break and eat hear. The prices are good and it is actually very decent. We don't have this restaurant in the East Coast so everytime I'm down south, I try to eat here. Their burgers are good and so are their hotdogs. Their french fries are always hot and crispy and the milkshakes are out of this world! If the waiter is good, then you are really in for a good treat.

Stopped for a quick lunch today. The atmosphere in there was very plesant, the staff was clearly happy to be there. I just had a salad and shake. Both were delicious. Thank you Jamacia for the fast and friendy service.

On a way back to S Fl from Atlanta, we wanted some ice cream. It was 10 p.m. (hey, it's vacation!) so we found this location en route to our stopping point for the night in Gainesville. We ended up ordering some food (and ice cream) as we were hungry. Slow as heck! Almost walked out. I had to stand up and say something, as the waitress kept saying 'it's coming right out'. I call b.s.!! When the Manager came over to ask if every was ok, I said things were sloowwww. I was tired and a bit grumpy, and I didn't hold back. She did apologize, explained that the guacamole that came with our sandwich 'needed to be made'. Ok..perhaps the waitress could have told us this and we would have ordered something else. We finally got our food, and full service from the Manager who diffused the situation, made sure everything else was ok, and even threw a shake in on the house. Summary: Food was yummy. Service was slow. Manager did the right thing. Hopefully it's just a one time thing..I would go back.

As slow as any drive thru known to man. Half hour wait for one shake behind two cars.

I was on a road trip and decided to stop by out of the many restaurants available on this stop. Why did I choose this one? Ugh Food was sub par. Shakes took longer than the food to come out and service wasn't that great either. And what really made me comment about this place was the dirtiness of the place and the women's bathrooms. It's nothing worst about being in an unfamiliar place and the bathrooms are so filthy. The floor in the entire place was so dirty I didn't even care to eat there afterwards. So all in all I say find somewhere else to eat...

Very good food. They were slow getting us a table and the hostesses was not the nicest. Our server was very nice and helpful. The bathroom smelled awful and was not the cleanest. They were slow at getting us our food. (But it was lunch rush)

Standard Steak and Shake, but I echo other reviews with the slow service. We stopped for a shake and had to wait a bit. Good thing we weren't in a hurry.

Service was so slow, I think I saw the clock grow a beard while I waited for the check. The food was cold and it was not that great. The bathrooms are horrific. Who's giving this lace 3 stars?

Maybe I'm a little spoiled because I had never had a bad experience with Steak 'n Shake until we stopped here during our travels from Florida to Kentucky. We understood waiting 20 minutes to be seated because they were busy. However, they proceeded to make us wait 20 more minutes after seating us before a waitress came to take our drink orders. It took 45 minutes to get our food and they forgot parts of our order. People who arrived after us were finishing their food before we got ours. When we asked to speak with a manager, no manager came so I'm guessing they didn't have one. We have nothing against Steak 'n Shake, but we won't stop at this location again.

Literally the dirtiest steak n shake I've ever been to. The service is so incredibly slow. Only 2 servers on the floor for breakfast. They seem to be very understaffed for a Sunday morning.

It's a 24hr chain along the interstate. Food, service, and cleanliness were all exactly as expected. There's nothing exceptionally great or poor about this place. The full color menus set you up for disappointment. The food never looks like the picture, but thankfully, it tastes better than the picture, because pictures do not have taste.

The manager was attentive initially and took order and told us our servers name. Then the mgr was back to take our order. We ordered some onion rings which he said he would ring up first as starters and Jeff ordered a bacon burger and fries and I ordered a chicken harvest salad. The meals came, delivered by mgr, and Jeff said don't worry about bringing onion rings just remove from the bill. They brought onion rings that were standing in grease as a courtesy. The manager saw the quality and took them away. Better courtesy onion rings came back. Our server seemed to be spending more time flirting with a guy at the counter. Salad and burger And later rings were fine as expected but service was not normal.

Tracie S.
Horrible service. Took 30 minutes or more to get 3 shakes. Our waitress never asked us if we wanted anything to drink, did not bring us napkins, we had nothing. I always give a generous tip especially when just getting dessert but not this time. Absolutely horrible service. Stay away from this place. We were not the only ones having problems. They did not care either.

There is a steak and shake here in Vegas, but it is really far from my place. So when I saw there was one across the street from our hotel I knew my time has come to try it. The place had a diner feel to it with a burger I probably would get at a diner. The big pluses for me was the service and the fact it was open 24 hours. In a town that seemed to shut down early and the odd hours I was working that was great. I wouldn't go outta my way to go across town to get one now, but it was A-ok.

Kenneth M.
Poor service. Made order online and came in to pick it up and the manager was in the back on his phone with employees. They informed me it would be a minute because he had to set up breakfast. Rather than setting up breakfast or cleaning or anything he is on YouTube or something again when I walked back in 10 minutes later.

A eastern US standard. This Steak and Shake seemed pretty new, clean, and had some young kids working there. They were on the ball, ready to move, and very friendly. I highly approve of this franchise!

My last review was a bit negative. However the Lake City Steak and Shake has really been working on delivering good food and service. Both the dine in and take out has been very good in the last year or so. They recently added breakfast including pancakes. And I can honestly say they are really good pancakes.

Stopped in for a late lunch. (3pm) Service was extremely slow. Hamburgers arrived poorly prepared ... we had no napkins or silverware. First time we've had that experience at a S&S.
